On March 25, in St. Petersburg, the association "R.O.S.ASPHALT" and LLC "ASTECH Industries" with the support of the Federal Road Agency, the State Company "Avtodor", ANO Research Institute TSK and TC 418 "Road Economy" held the 2nd international conference "Asphalt Concrete 2021".
The head of the Department of methods for assessing the condition of highways spoke at the event from the FAA "ROSDORNIA"Lushnikov Nikolai Alexandrovich. His report was devoted to the problem of road surface wear with studded tires. The experience of foreign countries was summarized and specific measures were proposed to increase the service life of road surfaces.
Nikolay Alexandrovich touched upon topical and unresolved issues in the regulation of requirements for studded tires in order to reduce the wear of the road surface, such as:
- lack of clear regional requirements for the permitted period of use of studded tires;
- no restrictions on the maximum speeds of vehicles equipped with studded tires;
It was also noted that at the moment not all parameters of tires and spikes that affect the wear of the road surface are normalized.
In conclusion the speakers proposed comprehensive measures to improve the service life of road surfaces. From the organizational ones, it is necessary to single out the regulation of the period of use of studded tires up to their prohibition in certain regions, and traffic speeds.
Following the conference, a resolution was adopted for sending to the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as to the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which included proposals from the FAA ROSDORNIA.
