A set of equipment with a pycnometer is designed for testing asphalt concrete mixtures
In 2020, a large-scale equipment upgrade is taking place in the stationary laboratories of the FAA ROSDORNIA within the framework of the national project "Safe and High-quality Roads". The new equipment will be used in the framework of quality monitoring (audit) for testing road construction materials for compliance with the requirements of existing regulatory and technical documents. We talk about new progressive installations and devices in detail
The pycnometer is designed to determine the maximum density of asphalt concrete mixture in accordance with GOST 58401.16-2019 "Public roads. Mixtures of asphalt concrete road and asphalt concrete. Methods for determining the maximum density". The maximum density parameter is used to calculate the content of air voids in asphalt concrete during compaction quality control.
The essence of the method is to determine the density of the crushed asphalt concrete mix sample after removing air voids. Removal of air voids is achieved by vacuuming a sample of asphalt concrete mixture with simultaneous vibration action.
The set of equipment includes: a vacuum bowl with a transparent lid, a valve and a vacuum meter, as well as an electric vacuum pump with an adjustable air pumping speed. The set includes a vibrating device with a platform and clamping devices for fixing the pycnometer bowl. On the control panel of the device, you can set the time and intensity of vibration. The attachment device ensures that the vacuum bowl is pressed against the vibration device platform for effective vibration transmission.
