More than two hundred listeners from among road specialists gathered a webinar organized by ROSDORNII, dedicated to the problems of improving the quality and increasing the service life and bearing capacity of road clothes through the use of geosynthetic materials. The event took place on March 11, 2021 on the platform of the Educational Portal of the Road industry. The webinar was attended by seven speakers – representatives of industry and industrial organizations.
An overview report on the characteristics, types and application of geosynthetic materials in road construction, as well as on the principles of designing objects with their use, was delivered to the audience by the chief engineer of the Department for the Introduction of New Technologies of the Industry-wide Competence Center of the Federal State Educational Institution "ROSDORNII"Sergey Inchin. The expert touched upon such topics as reinforcement of asphalt concrete, construction of roads on weak foundations, strengthening and prevention of erosion of slopes, etc. The methodology of designing and calculating road structures using geosynthetic materials was shown in detail, the basic algorithm for carrying out design work and the main normative documents that designers should be guided by in their work are considered.
Expert of the certification body of ANO "NII TSK"Svetlana Bogomolova about the features of the application of the functional approach in the standardization of technical requirements for geosynthetic materials and methods of quality control. Among other things, she reported on the current state of the regulatory and technical base in relation to geosynthetic materials for road construction and promising areas of its development. Svetlana Bogomolova devoted the second part of her report to the methods of testing geosynthetic materials used to assess their compliance with technical requirements.
Specialists of manufacturing companies followed the representatives of industry structures. They talked about new developments in the production of geosynthetic materials and shared their experience in practical application.
So, the chief engineer of TERATEX LLCPavel Afonin gave typical examples of the use of non-woven geotextile in road construction, including the construction of runways and when strengthening the shores of reservoirs. He talked about how the material works and what effect can be achieved when using it. In addition, the specialist shared his experience in coordinating project documentation and updating estimated prices, taking into account the current GOST R 56419 and SP 34.13330.2012 with Izm N 1,2, and also spoke about geotextile testing methods.
Head of the GEKS Engineering CenterVyacheslav Markov raised the issue of verifying the authenticity of the test results of the materials used, gave examples of the supply of low-quality products and told how to deal with it. Dmitry Svezhentsev, the company's chief engineer, shared his experience in using geosynthetic materials on road facilities as part of the implementation of the national project "Safe and High-quality Highways", including more than 55 federal highways, 500 regional facilities and 60 oil and gas roads. In his report, the specialist showed methods for calculating the structures of road clothes using various types of materials.
Representative of the Tensar companyAlexey Vissarionov spoke about the experience of using high-tech materials produced by the company on roads of various type and gave examples of all kinds of technical solutions.
Head of the Technical support Group of the Belarusian company "Makhina-TST"Alexander Domenko shared his experience of using geogrids and geocomposites for reinforcing asphalt concrete pavements at various facilities. The practice of using various technical solutions was illustrated by the results of field tests, including the taking of core samples for the adhesion index of layers of road clothes in accordance with PNST 395 ANO "Research Institute of TSK".
All the presented materials aroused the keen interest of the audience, the speakers answered a lot of questions.
