The number of buses involved in transportation will be reduced to 462 units by increasing their capacity
ASTRAKHAN, November 17. /tass/. The presentation of the optimized route network of the Astrakhan agglomeration, within which the rolling stock of regional public transport is waiting for reduction and complete modernization, is presented as part of the "Transport Week" on Wednesday. This was reported to TASS by Ekaterina Bryazgina, Acting Deputy Director General of the Federal Autonomous Institution "Russian Road Research Institute" for the development of intelligent transport Systems.
Earlier it was reported that the development of a package of transport planning documents will be carried out in the Astrakhan region with the participation of representatives of the FAA "RosdorNIA" by December 1. According to the results of the analysis of the transport situation in the region, experts noted a one-and-a-half excess of duplicated routes on the line, the rolling stock of which is 95% "small" class, the so-called "minibuses", as well as the lack of a clear schedule and non-cash form of fare payment.
"Within the framework of cardinal modernization it is proposed to replace the rolling stock of buses of the "small" class with buses of the "large" and "medium" classes adapted for the transportation of low-mobility groups of the population. Reducing the number of buses involved in transportation from more than a thousand to 462 units will be carried out by increasing their capacity, as well as optimizing work on the line. As a result, there will be an increase in traffic intensity during peak hours, a shift schedule of drivers on the line will be organized, priority of route vehicles will be provided, which will significantly increase the comfort and safety of passenger transportation," Bryazgina said. According to her, as part of the modernization, it is also planned to use gas-powered buses, which will reduce the negative impact on the environment.
"The new route network will be serviced only with the use of regulated tariffs, which will allow, through state regulation methods, to provide transportation tariffs that are comfortable for residents of the city, as well as to introduce a system of flexible tariff formation, with the introduction of subscription tickets. The proposed list of measures is primarily aimed at improving the quality of transport services for residents and ensuring the availability of services for the population," the expert stressed.
Within the framework of the presentation, measures were announced for the construction or reconstruction of transport infrastructure facilities, stopping points, as well as the organization of dedicated lanes for route vehicles.
As reported by TASS, according to the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, the situation with public transport is assessed in the Astrakhan region "as extremely difficult." Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko called the issue of public transport in the region a "problem of problems" and suggested that the regional government develop urban transport companies more.
