The main transport scheme for the Voronezh agglomeration will be developed by RosdorNIA experts by the end of 2021. This was stated in the program "Conduct an Interview" by the head of the transport planning Department of the InstituteVladimir Pashchenko. Choosing between a tram and a metrobus, experts are still inclined to the second option.

Trunk transport is an alternative to a personal car, and a high–quality alternative, Vladimir Pashchenko stressed. The advantages are achieved due to high speed and strict adherence to the schedule.

– The tram is cheaper for large passenger flows, but it has a lot of limitations. In Voronezh, taking into account, for example, infrastructure and urban planning restrictions and, in connection with this, high investments, it will be very difficult to launch a tram. In this situation, the metrobus may be cheaper, – Vladimir Pashchenko believes. – The problem will definitely be with the crossing of the reservoir by trams. And the dedicated lanes on bridges are ready–made metrobus lanes, you just need to expand the markup.

In the meantime, he called the situation on the roads of Voronezh a dump.

– An ordinary bus, even moving along a dedicated the lane is experiencing many obstacles. Now 110 minibuses pass through the stop at the Zastava Square per hour. This is a dump, not a movement. The allocated lane somehow streamlined the situation, but it is difficult to talk about compliance with the schedule, rhythm, predictability. The metrobus works like a metro – it is clearly on schedule, has priority during traffic light regulation, in some difficult sections it goes to another level, and speed is not achieved due to violation of traffic rules, – said Vladimir Pashchenko.

The developers will present the scheme in December. Whether it will be discussed with the citizens and residents of suburban areas, the authorities will decide.

Voronezh officials started talking about the launch of the metrobus in March 2021. They said that this would require the transfer of stops and changes to the entire road infrastructure – the project is quite heavy and expensive, but the effect of it is guaranteed.
