PhosAgro presented the technology of using phosphogypsum for road construction at the RosBuild-2022 exhibition.
This innovative material as the foundation of roads ensures their evenness and durability. Phosphogypsum road copes significantly better with the external load than sand and crushed stone. The key to this is the ability of the material to distribute the weight at the pressure point of the wheel on the entire monolithic plate, which prevents the appearance of ruts and allows you to increase the axle load from 15 to 30 tons, and 1.5-2 times increase the cargo turnover of the road.
As a result, the phosphogypsum base is incomparably stronger (up to 5 times) and more accessible (on average by 30%) than that in which sand and crushed stone are used. And the maximum benefit (up to 45%) from the use of phosphogypsum is manifested in the construction of roads of the 4th and 5th categories - regional, inner-city, village, local.
In addition, the phosphogypsum coating has high frost resistance, it is resistant to moisture accumulation and swelling.
Another important advantage of the use of road phosphogypsum for the construction of pavement bases is the reduction of time construction of roads by reducing the volume of work, as well as increasing their repair period, including in difficult hydrogeological and climatic conditions. Phosphogypsum effectively replaces natural materials such as sand and crushed stone, which saves primary resources.
In the Saratov region, more than 180 thousand m2 of roads have already been built using the developed technology. All of them have shown high performance characteristics, are in good condition and have been used for a long time without major and pit repairs.
As a result, phosphogypsum dorozhny was included in the Register of new and best technologies, materials and technological solutions for the reuse of the FAA "ROSDORNII". In addition, the technology of road construction using phosphogypsum produced by the Balakovo branch of Apatit JSC (PhosAgro Group) is included in the Handbook of the International Association of Mineral Fertilizer Manufacturers (IFA) on the best practices of using phosphogypsum in various fields.
"The product aroused great interest of visitors. During the exhibition, we held more than 100 meetings with designers, construction organizations, potential customers, research centers and logistics companies.
At the exhibition, we found new partners both in the short term and for long-term cooperation," Lidiya Kholomyeva, head of the corporate project for the promotion of phosphogypsum, commented on the results of the exhibition.
