On February 25, employees of the Voronezh branch of ROSDORNIA held a training seminar for road workers on the topic: "Comparative analysis of the production, laying and quality control of asphalt concrete mixtures designed by volumetric and volumetric-functional methods." The event was attended by customers and contractors of the Lipetsk and Tambov regions.

Pavel Glotov, Acting Head of the Road works Quality Monitoring Department, and Natalia Kostrykina, head of the laboratory, spoke about the classification of asphalt concrete mixtures adopted in volumetric and volumetric-functional design, explained what requirements exist for raw materials (crushed stone, sand, mineral powder, bitumen binder), and how they should be stored. According to the employees of ROSDORNIA, during storage, contamination of mineral material is not allowed, as well as mixing stacks of various fractions of mineral aggregate. In addition, when storing mineral materials, it is necessary to take measures to minimize the moisture content in them. To do this, it is recommended to store the mineral material on a flat cement-concrete or asphalt-concrete surface with a slope from the storage site or drainage. Fine-grained aggregate is recommended to be stored in places equipped with a roof. Mineral powder should be stored in special silos with the possibility of feeding into the mixer with the required accuracy. Bitumen binder should be stored in specially equipped storage tanks at a constant temperature recommended by the manufacturer. Tanks with oil or electric heating are mainly used for storage.

During the seminar, they also discussed the design of asphalt concrete mixtures and the acceptance rules.

At the end of the theoretical part of the event, a tour of the testing laboratory was organized for road workers, opened on the basis of the Voronezh branch of ROSDORNIA on August 25, 2020. The laboratory is equipped with the most modern equipment and allows carrying out the entire necessary range of tests of road-building materials using almost 500 types of measuring equipment.
