"Escandor" will examine the roads in several parameters at once. The laboratory's measuring systems are currently being tested
The first universal mobile laboratory of continuous diagnostics of highways in Russia is being created by order of the Federal State Enterprise "ROSDORNIA" to fulfill the tasks of the national project "Safe and High-quality Highways". This is a whole complex of measuring systems, made in the form of a road train, which will conduct a survey of roads within the framework of the national project.
For the first time, plans to create an innovative road laboratory were widely publicized in October 2019. The layout and description of the systems were presented at the exhibition in Yekaterinburg "Road 2019". Integration and testing of laboratory systems is already underway.
So, now specialists of LLC "Spetsmash-Diagnostics", who manufacture and supply a specialized car, are also testing its key system. The heart of the innovative laboratory will be a system for measuring the strength of the roadway. The amount of elastic precipitation and the shape of the deflection bowl will be measured – and on the move.
This is a key feature of the laboratory "Escandor". Unlike other mobile road laboratories, this specialized machine can carry out an express assessment of the road surface in non-stop mode, in motion. The maximum speed at which surveys can be carried out is up to 80 kilometers per hour. This means that the "Escandor" will move at the speed of the traffic flow. Such a regime will significantly increase the safety of work and the completeness of the data obtained for a comprehensive assessment of the quality of the road surface.
Also, "Eskandor" will measure such parameters of the highway as the longitudinal and transverse evenness of the road – with an error of no more than 1 mm. The latter is the so–called "rut". The depth and profile of the track will be measured using sensors located at the bottom of the "Escandor".
In addition, the coupling properties of the road will be measured, defects of the road surface will be evaluated. The "smart" car will also be equipped with a georadar – the OKO geo-radar sensing system will "enlighten" all layers of the "road pie". So, for example, it will be possible to identify weakened areas in road clothes.
Another system is laser spatial scanning – will allow you to create a digital "double" of the road – its display in the so-called point cloud.
From mid-July, it is planned to begin the installation of measuring systems, software development and testing of systems directly "in the back". The first tests of the universal road laboratory "Eskandor" are scheduled for autumn 2020. Based on the results of the tests, a technology for a comprehensive assessment of the state of the highways of the Russian Federation will be formed, as well as proposals for its consolidation in the regulatory and technical base of the country.
We should add that three new mobile laboratories based on a crossover and vans are also being sent to the regions this summer. Previously, eight such cars were delivered to the branches. They are equipped with everything necessary to carry out selective diagnostics of road sections within the framework of NP "BKAD" Most of the measurements (assessment of the evenness of the pavement, trackage, measurement of geometric parameters of the road, fixing and determining the types of defects, collecting GPS coordinates) are carried out by road laboratories, like "Eskandor", in motion. Such machines stop during operation only to measure strength road clothes.
Recall, a selective assessment of the technical condition of the sections of highways of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" as an Industry-wide competence center for new materials and technologies for the construction, repair and maintenance of highways. As of June 10, 2020, more than 13.5 thousand kilometers of roads and streets have been surveyed. The most kilometers of the laboratory were "passed" in the Volgograd (over 1500 km.) and Voronezh (over 1300 km.) regions. Most of the work was carried out to assess the technical condition of the sites to verify the achievement of the target indicator of NP "BKAD" – the proportion of roads in standard condition.
