The 22 km long line is planned to be built by 2025
MOSCOW, November 18. /tass/. The first line for the movement of metrobuses, the route of which will connect Voronezh State University and the airport, is planned to be built in Voronezh by 2025. It will become part of the transport project of the Voronezh urban agglomeration, Ivan Kozelsky, deputy head of the Department of Method Support for Transport Planning of the Federal State Budgetary Institution RosdorNIA, told TASS on the sidelines of Transport Week.
"We propose, first of all, to build line No. 1 - from Voronezh State University to the airport, it is almost 22 km, it is an integral part of a large transport project. Term [the completion of construction] of this line, we determine the year 2025," Kozelsky said.
He noted that the preliminary cost of the project will be about 10 billion rubles, for its implementation it will be necessary to rebuild the road network. It is expected that the costs will be associated with the need to electrify this section. This method will save money during operation, but will increase the initial costs, the agency interlocutor added. "In the Voronezh agglomeration, this direction (from VSU to the airport) is considered the most passenger-stressed, so it is now, so it will be later, since intensive residential development is underway in this direction. Thus, the costs of developing this area are most justified," Kozelsky said.
According to him, in two weeks RosdorNII (a subordinate institute of the Ministry of Transport of Russia) will present to the government of the Voronezh Region several options for creating the first line of metrobus traffic. Metrobus is a high-speed bus transport that runs along specially designated lanes.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Voronezh Region are considering options for the development of bus and trolleybus transportation systems in the Voronezh agglomeration, including the possibility of introducing metrobuses on urban routes.
In April 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin contacted Governor Alexander Gusev via videoconference, who asked for the support of the federal center in the development of passenger transport in the Voronezh Region. The President instructed the Russian Ministry of Transport to develop measures for faster development of passenger transport in the region, including the supply of buses.
