The road signs used on the roads of our country cannot fundamentally change, since their images correspond to the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals, which Russia has ratified and is obliged to comply with.
However, in accordance with the Draft Amendment No. 3 to GOST R 52290 for road signs developed by the FAA "ROSDORNIA", certain combinations of well-known symbols of these signs are planned to be allowed to be combined on one field to reduce the number of signs and harmony with the size of the road network.
So on the sign "Parking" it will be possible to see images of the sign "Disabled" or "Paid services". The requirement of a sign with a combined image will be equivalent to the requirement of two independent signs located one under the other on the same support on individual bases.
Before multi- functional road service complexes , you can a road sign will be observed, where several symbols of well-known service signs will be applied on a large blue shield.
In addition, soon it will be possible to see a kilometer sign on the roads with the name of the organization that owns this road. This is done for road users, so that if they have a particular problem related to the road, they know who to turn to.
Today, such signs can already be observed on federal highways, where they were installed as an experiment.

The sign consists of an image and the base on which this image is applied. So far we have been talking about the image of signs. These images for a better perception of signs against the background of the surrounding landscape can be applied to rectangular yellow-green shields made of fluorescent retroreflective film, the dimensions of these shields are larger than the dimensions of the image of the signs. So for especially important signs, for example, "Pedestrian crossing", it is mandatory to apply its image on such a shield.
- Please explain: are we talking about all signs or only about some group?
Currently, the FAA "ROSDORNII" is processing GOST R 52289, which establishes the rules for the use of traffic signs, markings, road fences and guiding devices, the project has passed all the basic public discussion procedures and is at the last stage of approval and approval.
The draft of this document in settlements on narrow streets of local significance, park roads, driveways, and outside the city on roads with one lane used for traffic in both directions, it is allowed to use road signs of the I standard size according to the interstate standard for road signs. This standard size provides smaller geometric dimensions for all types of road signs, compared to our national standard.
