On January 28, demonstration tests of the automated weight and size control system of Rosavtodor took place on the section of the federal highway A-121 "Sortavala" near St. Petersburg. The event was attended by representatives of organizations of cargo carriers and shippers, the Ministry of Transport of Russia, Rosavtodor and its subordinate institutions, FAA "ROSDORNIA". From the FAA "ROSDORNIA" was attended by the head of the department for the calculation of roadway structures for the movement of heavy vehicles - Konorev Alexander Sergeevich, the head of the department of roadway structures - Rakhimova Irina Aleksandrovna, the chief specialist of the department of roadway structures - Filippov Maxim Dmitrievich.

The purpose of the test drives conducted in the presence and with the participation of cargo carriers and the public is to show the technical capabilities of automatic weight and size control systems (APVGC), the accuracy of measurements, the security of personal data of road users and owners of cargo vehicles (GTS). With the help of GTS of various types pre-weighed on pad scales, it was demonstrated that The measurements performed by the APVGC are within the permissible error and the system can be used for non-stop automatic monitoring of compliance with legislation in the field of cargo transportation.

Automated weighing and measurement of dimensional parameters is a guideline for the further development of weight and dimensional control both in Russia and in other countries.

The main advantage of APVGC in comparison with stationary and mobile points is the ability to control transport without stopping it or reducing speed. Also, with the help of the system, it will be possible to check the availability of a special permit in federal and regional databases of vehicles without human participation. "Smart scales" process the received information themselves and draw up an act of weighing. It is automatically sent to the center for fixing administrative offenses, after which a resolution is sent to the owner of the car, according to which a fine is paid in the future.

The fundamental novelty also lies in the fact that the APVGC implies working in a constant mode, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Measurements they are produced not selectively, but throughout the flow, which allows you to control the weight and size parameters of a larger number of vehicles. The key tasks of automatic weight and size control are to improve road safety, reduce the number of places where accidents occur, protect highways from overloads, and increase their repair time. "After equipping federal highways with APVGC complexes, we expect that a completely different level of cargo transportation culture will be achieved. The system will ensure the safety of highways, road safety will increase," Anton Kozlov, Deputy head of the Department of Construction and Operation of Highways of Rosavtodor, said during the tests.

For full control of the federal road network, it is necessary to install 387 APVGK. Thus, the "digital road scales" will cover the entire network based on every 100-150 kilometers. To date, 31 APVGK - 19 fully automatic and 12 automated stationary ones have been installed on the routes subordinated to Rosavtodor. The rest should appear before 2024.

One complex is installed in the Republic of Crimea, Volgograd, Oryol, Novgorod, Tver, Tula and Novosibirsk regions. Two each - in the Altai Territory, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad and Pskov regions, the Republic of Tatarstan. Three each - in the Vologda, Moscow regions and Krasnodar Krai. Seven – in the Leningrad region.

Similar work is underway on the regional road network. As Alexander Prokhodtsev, Deputy Director of the relevant Department of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, noted, this is one of the important tasks of the national project "Safe and High-quality Highways". According to him, in general, over the 6 years of the national project, it is planned to place 366 automatic weight and size control posts on the regional roads of 83 subjects.
