Alexander Bedusenko, General Director of FAI “ROSDORNII” and his deputy Artur Romanenko took part inthe “Transport Infrastructure of Russian Regions” strategic session as part of the business summit “Strong Russia” on July 5. The event took place at the RBK Event Center in Moscow.

The meeting’s participants discussed the implementation of large-scale road construction projects, increasing the volume of building and the pace of commissioning of new roads, and public-private partnerships in the field of transport infrastructure.

During the event, Alexander Bedusenko outlined FAI “ROSDORNII” priority areas within the framework of the National Project “Safe-Quality Roads”, and also spoke about ways to implement tasks set before the transport industry. “The Institute develops industry-specific regulatory and technical documents, carries out construction control, designs and inspects road construction projects, digitalizes roads, and introduces advanced technologies and materials into practice,” noted ROSDORNII’s General Director.

He spoke about the System for Monitoring the Formation and Use of Road Funds (SKDF) developed by the Institute, as well as Russia’s first universal mobile laboratory for road inspection in motion “Eskandor” and the heavy vehicle simulator “CYCLOS”, which has no equivalent in Russia or in the countries of the Customs Union.

Alexander Bedusenko outlined modern technical solutions that are being developed by FAI “ROSDORNII” for application on backbone roads.

On request of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Institute carries out R&D on creating a digital twin of the M-11 Neva expressway to ensure the safe traffic of highly automated vehicles (HAVs). This work will allow to develop a detailed list of requirements for HAVs operation and technological interaction with road infrastructure.

Also, FAI “ROSDORNII” participates in the development of a pilot zone in the Republic of Tatarstan for testing intelligent transport systems and technologies, including technologies that ensure the safe operation of HAVs at public roads.

Regarding the application of new energy- and resource saving technologies, and recycled materials in road construction, FAI “ROSDORNII” developed and operates the Register of New and Best Technologies, Materials, and Technological Solutions for Secondary Use.

The need for basic construction materials in regions was also discussed, among other issues, during the strategic session. Alexander Bedusenko noted that currently there is no shortage of road construction materials due to the fact that the bulk of them are manufactured in the territory of the Russian Federation. Binders such as cement and bitumen materials, as well as sand and crushed rock, are entirely produced in Russia.

And for certain components of concrete mixes and geosynthetic materials self-sufficiency is ensured by the selection of equivalents produced in Russia or friendly countries.
