On November 18, 2019, a meeting of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on raising awareness about climate change and its impact on transport systems was held in the building of the Eugenides Foundation in Athens (Greece).
The delegation of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" headed by the Deputy Director General Ulugbek Kasymova took an active part in the event.
Conference speakers:
Konstantinos Karamanlis, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece;
Nicholas Rodopoulos, Chairman of the Greek Logistics Association;
Konstantinos Alexopoulos, Head of Cargo Transportation Procedure Department;
Piet de Wildt, Chief Advisor to the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands;
Boram Lee, Chief Scientist of the World Climate Research Program of the World Meteorological Organization.
The conference discussed the impact of climate change on transport infrastructure, in particular the issues of global warming, increasing the level of atmospheric pollution.
To date, there are already international agreements in the field of combating and adapting to climate change. (Paris Agreement, UNCTAD).
In addition, local problems of the Greek transport infrastructure were touched upon.
