  • Abstract: In the «driver-vehicle-road-environment» system the passive safety mostly depends on the «vehicle-road» chain. If the chain element «vehicle» in terms of passive safety is formed primarily by the manufacturer and maintained by this vehicle user, the «road» since its construction is subjected to many changes when operating. The «vehicle-road» chain has a high degree of uncertainty in the field of passive safety. The assessment of the passive safety of this chain on the basis of the analysis of statistical material relating to the operation of federal public roads in the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation is considered. The factor of accident consequences severity is taken as an evaluation criterion, and the objective function is «zero mortality», that is, the tendency of the severity factor to zero.
