Abstract:The article deals with the definition of the tasks that should be solved using road GPR (ground-penetrating radars). Based on the analysis of the technical characteristics of foreign ground-penetrating radars and realized comparative tests of various designs of ground-penetrating equipment, the qualitative and quantitative requirements for road ground-penetrating radars are formulated.
Abstract:The method for estimating the parametric reliability of the roadbed when taking into account the random nature of the input factor (relative humidity) and determining the probabilistic characteristics of the output parameter (roadbed settlement) by statistical linearization is proposed. The failure criteria for an embankment designed according to the second principle in the permafrost region are formulated. The application of this method is illustrated by a specific example. Taking into account the variability of even one factor considered as a random variable, in the example a very low value of the probability of failure-free operation has been derived, although from the standpoint of the normative methodology in the deterministic setting, the criterion of the embankment stability is fulfilled. The values of the normalized probability of the roadbed failure-free operation are proposed.
Keywords:embankment base, slope stability, second principle of design, permafrost soils, failure criterion, probability of failure-free operation.

Abstract:The article deals with the issues of improving quality, productivity and safety of road maintenance based on the implementation of measures to increase the automation level of technological equipment, installed on road machines. The classification of the automation levels of technological equipment of road machines is a methodological basis for the development of an industry «roadmap» for the implementation of measures in this sphere. Two main ways of automation, in particular automation of road vehicle chassis control and automation of the operation of the technological equipment installed on the road vehicle are considered. The results of the realized classification of the automation levels of technological equipment of road machines are presented.

Abstract:The article provides methods for processing and analyzing data on cargo traffic flow in order to design road pavements and estimate their remaining service life. The research is based on information from automatic weight and dimensional control stations (Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems) located in different regions of the Russian Federation and installed on roads of different categories, designed for various design loads. The authors propose to assign the classification of vehicles in accordance with the Procedure for carrying out weight and dimensional control as the main one due to the most detailed differentiation of vehicles by their types. In addition, it is recommended to introduce a certain order of synthesis of data on traffic flow over a long period of time to simplify the algorithm of calculating the conversion coefficients that are unique for each road section. As an example, the coefficients of conversion to design loads were calculated by processing of data from more than 20 WIM systems.

It is revealed that according to the most optimistic estimate, only about a quarter of the samples of bitumen binders corresponds to the climatic conditions of their use. The method of assessing the impact of the use of bitumen binders, the PG characteristics of which do not correspond to climatic conditions, on the expected interrepair period of asphalt pavement is considered.
Keywords:bitumen binder, upper limit of PG characteristic, lower limit of PG characteristic, actual PG characteristic, required PG characteristic, reliability of determination of maximum and minimum temperatures, total probability of occurrence of worse (more severe) climatic conditions over the expected service life
